ISTU

International Society for Therapeutic Ultrasound (ISTU) is the specialist association for therapeutic ultrasound founded in Chongqing China in 2001, when the First International Workshop on High Intensity Focused Ultrasound in Medicine was held during May 10th-12th, 2001. Institute of Ultrasound Engineering in Medicine of Chongqing University of Medical Sciences was appointed as the headquarters of the Society.

The purposes of this Society was to maintain close contacts with national and regional professional societies and associations as well as other relevant professional organizations and to seek consensus in matters of mutual interest, and to ensure the timely dissemination of information concerning therapeutic ultrasound through the distribution of symposium proceedings, pamphlets, documents, and other printed or electronic materials.

Since 2001, nine international symposiums on therapeutic ultrasound had been successfully held under the organization of ISTU and the tenth International Symposium on Therapeutic Ultrasound will be held in Tokyo, Japan, 9th-12 th June 2010.

Chongqing Medical Universityand Chongqing Haifu(HIFU) Technology Co., Ltd. maintains good relationship with ISTU and plays as a principal sponsor of the Society and actively participate in activities organized by the Society.
